theatrEurope focuses on preservation and dissemination of knowledge on heritage theatre technologies, mainly wooden machinery. Besides gathering historical information on this highly sustainable, but much too long underestimated technology, we research and develop alternatives to reintroduce the principles behind this technology in contemporary scenography.
The international conference “Wood and Canvas (and rabbit glue) in the Modern World” was our fist main event. The “Back to the Future of Heritage Theatre Technology” project, a series of lectures and workshops around the world is running.
We cooperate with likeminded organisations around the world and our members participate actively in projects like the “Canon of Technical Theatre History” project.
